Charles H. Squires, PhD, Joins iDiverse’s Business and Scientific Advisory Board

Del Mar, CA, January 15, 2007 – iDiverse today announced that Dr. Charles H. Squires has agreed to join iDiverse’s Business and Scientific Advisory Board.

“I have been impressed with Dr. Squires and his scientific acumen ever since I worked with him at Innovase, a joint venture formed by Dow and Diversa to commercialize innovative products for the industrial enzyme market,” said John Burr, president and CEO of iDiverse. “His expertise includes the molecular genetics of microorganisms and the regulatory mechanisms of gene expression – key competencies directly relevant to our research activities. We are all very pleased to have Dr. Squires help us shape and focus the direction of our technology development.”

“Even at this stage of development, iDiverse’s transgenic technology looks like it may have meaningful commercial potential in bioproduction, the application with which I am most familiar”, said Dr. Squires. “I look forward to helping the iDiverse team judiciously move their technology over all the hurdles to commercialization that every company faces.”

Dr. Squires is a Senior R&D Leader at Dowpharma where he is responsible for the development of a technology for microbial based biopharmaceutical production. In addition, he has made significant contributions to Energy BioSystems Corp. and Synergen, Inc. in the areas of pharmaceutical protein production by bacteria and the elucidation of bacterial metabolic pathways.  Dr. Squires earned his BS, and MS degrees in biology from the University of Dayton, and his PhD degree from Purdue University.  He is a named inventor on 10 issued US patents and is widely published in scientific journals.
