Venkiteswaran “Mani” Subramanian, PhD, Joins iDiverse’s Business and Scientific Advisory Board
Del Mar, CA, May 2, 2006 – iDiverse today announced that Dr. Venkiteswaran “Mani” Subramanian is joining the Business and Scientific Advisory Board of iDiverse.
“It is good to welcome Dr. Subramanian to our Advisory Board’” said John Burr, president and CEO of iDiverse. “At the University of Iowa, he is located in the geographic heart of the fuel ethanol industry and is very much attuned to ethanol manufacturers’ problems and their technology needs. His experiences and insights are going to very valuable in helping us direct our product development and commercialization efforts."
“I really look forward to working with the team at iDiverse”, said Dr. Subramanian. “Fuel ethanol is a dynamic area and if iDiverse’s technology can help increase production, it will make an important contribution to our regional and national economies. I anticipate that we will be able to leverage the full scale facilities and expert staff at the University of Iowa to demonstrate the utility of this technology in the production of fuel ethanol and also the bioproduction of industrial enzymes and pharmaceuticals. Beyond ethanol, this technology may have to ability to reduce the cost of protein production in many applications.”
Dr. Subramanian is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering and is the Director of the Center for Biocatalysis and Bioprocessing (CBB) at the University of Iowa. The CBB is a state-of-the-art bioproduction facility established to promote local economic development by working with biotechnology companies, as well as for student training, contract research, and process development. Prior to joining the University of Iowa, Dr. Subramanian had 25 years of industrial research experience in agricultural biotechnology companies including Maxygen, Novartis/Sandoz Agro, and The Dow Chemical Company where he mainly served at the Director/Leadership positions. Dr. Subramanian earned his BSc in chemistry and biology and his MSc in chemistry and biochemistry from Bangalore University, and was awarded his PhD in biochemistry from the Indian Institute of Science. He has published over 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals and is the co-inventor of 16 issued and 7 pending patent applications.
