Target Markets | Biopharmaceuticals
Conventional small molecule drugs are synthesized by complex, large-scale chemical processes. In contrast, biotech drugs, mainly recombinant proteins and antibodies, are manufactured using a variety of living cells. In 2005, the worldwide pharmaceutical market exceeded $500B, with biotech sales approaching 10% of that total. By 2009, the market is expected to near $650B, with biotech drug sales representing 15-20% of the total. Furthermore, it is expected that 50% of all new drug approvals in 2010 will be for biotech drugs.
iDiverse Competitive Advantage
Bringing an additional recombinant drug manufacturing facility on-line costs over $500 million and takes 5 years. We believe that our technology will allow companies to delay investments in manufacturing expansion by improving the productivity of their current facilities; and for new facilities, to improve productivity, enabling them to provide enhanced profitability.
